Adult Willow Flycatcher T-shirt

The Willow Flycatcher is an Empidonax genus flycatcher that is visibly virtually identical to the Alder Flycatcher, and the two were previously considered conspecific as the Traill's Flycatcher, which some still use as a common name to distinguish a Willow/Alder Flycatcher from other similar species. These two very similar species can be differentiated by their vocalizations. The Willow Flycatcher breeds at middle altitude North America, from coast to coast, and winters further south, from Mexico, through much of Central America, to northern South America. Though not endangered as a species, its numbers have been cut by approximately 50% over the last half century, with some subspecies imperiled, such as the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher's being listed as endangered, mainly due to habitat loss.
