Adult Roadside Hawk T-shirt

A very widespread raptor that is found from southern Texas to Argentina, occupying the vast majority of tropical America. It is very common in much of its range, and has a number of regional common names in Spanish and Portuguese, including "gavilán chapulinero", meaning "grasshopper-hunting hawk", as it often feeds on insects, but will also take small mammals, reptiles, birds, large spiders. Formerly placed in the Buteo genus, but was subsequently moved to its own genus.
