The Purus Red Howler is a species of howler monkey, the loudest land animals on earth, that is found in a very limited area of dense rainforest in western eastern Peru, northern Bolivia, and a larger part of western Brazil. Little is known of this species, but it is very dependent on a thriving Amazon rainforest for survival, and like many species in its region, would be very susceptible to deforestation.
