The Mantled Howler is a species of howler monkey, which are the loudest land animals on the planet. It is found from southern Mexico south, through Central America, and along the Pacific side of northern South America to Ecuador. The Mantled Howler is the largest monkey in Central America, and the male of the subspecies in much of the region, known as the Golden-mantled Howler, has long golden hairs along its side. It feeds mainly on leaves.
