Living in and along tropical lowland forest from Mexico to central South America, the Long-billed Starthroat is a large, rare hummingbird that not only feeds on nectar from flowers, but also catches insects in flight. Like all species that rely on forested habitat in Central and South America, it is very susceptible to habitat loss through deforestation.
