The White Hawk is a beautiful raptor with large, broad wings and a short tail that is found from southern Mexico south, through much of Amazonia. An opportunistic predator that mainly takes reptiles, small mammals, and large insects, it occupies lowland and mid-level forest for the most part, and though much of its preferred habitat has been decimated in the last couple hundred years and continues to rapidly decline in area, this somewhat rare bird is still not considered to be threatened, due to its vast, but partially fragmented range.
