Kids Kirtland's Warbler T-shirt

The Kirtland's Warbler is a bird of the Setophaga genus that exclusively breeds in jack pine forest. With only a few thousand breeding individuals that breed almost exclusively in Michigan and Wisconsin, members of this species winter in the Bahamas, where they rely on scrubby habitat. Habitat loss is the main culprit threatening the Kirtland's Warbler, as suitable forest is cleared by humans for development, activities which, even on a small scale, can gravely impact animals. Nest parasitism by Brown-headed Cowbirds, and even fire management (as fire helps the jack pine reproduce) have also led to falling numbers.
