The Keel-billed Toucan (called "Tucán pico iris", meaning "iris/rainbow-billed toucan in Spanish) is the northernmost member of its genus, found from a few hundred miles south of the Texas border in eastern Mexico to northern South America. An opportunistic feeder like most toucans, it relies on fruit, seeds, small mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles for sustenance, and will raid nest of other birds to devour eggs. It relies on rainforest habitat, but is also found in patchy forested habitat near the edge of denser forest. It is imperiled by the constant conversion of forest to farmland.
