A very large-billed kingbird of the Tyrannus genus that is most common in the Caribbean (as well as in Florida and occasionally further up the east coast, as well as in Central and northern South America), the Gray Kingbird prefers forest edges near water. It hawks in flight, and is often seen perching on dead branches before sallying out to snatch its prey.
