Adult Elegant Trogon T-shirt

As its name suggests, the Elegant Trogon is a very elegant bird that is found from the extreme southwestern US to Costa Rica (particularly the drier Nicoya Peninsula and much of Guanacaste). Unlike many other species of trogon, it generally does not favor mountain cloud forest and often prefers more arid habitat, including sycamore forest in the US and Mexico, and tropical dry forest in a somewhat disjunct range in northern Central America. A cavity nester like its closest relatives, the Elegant Trogon feeds principally on fruit, insects, and other small invertebrates.
