Adult Eastern Wood-Pewee T-shirt

A very common and widespread flycatcher that breeds in much of Eastern North America, the Eastern Wood-Pewee has a very recognizable song that is often inserted as ambient sound into episodes of survival and nature TV programs, even those taking place in South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia, where the bird would not sing, and in the case of these last three continents, is never found at all. It winters in tropical America, and is reliably found south to Peru and Bolivia. Though overall similar in appearance to several Empidonax flycatchers, this pewee has several identifying characteristics to distinguish it from most other flycatchers.
