The song of the Whip-poor-will, a small nightjar that lives in eastern North America in the warmer months, and winters further south, mainly in Central America. Like most nightjars, this bird fills a similar niche in its environment as other camouflaged ambush predators, such as toadfish. This species, due to habitat loss, has declined in population by about 75% over the last half century.
