An incredibly beautiful small hummingbird that is also known as the Blue-throated Sapphire, this species is found from extreme southern Mexico to extreme northwestern Colombia, making it a truly Central American species. It relies on humid forest, mainly in the lowlands and foothills, but occasionally found at higher elevations where dense, protected forest is available.
