The Blackpoll Warbler is a long range migrant that breeds in northern North America, from Alaska to eastern Canada, and in parts of the northeastern United States. It travels to northern South America for the winter. This species has declined by over 90% since the 1960s, but it is still remarkably numerous for warblers of its genus, but it is expected to decline by at least another 50% in the coming 20 years. Damage to its boreal forest habitat in the breeding season due to the logging industry, and habitat destruction in tropical America, as more and more forest is converted to open sun plantation and farmland for grazing are threats to this bird.
